3rd Annual Compassion Run Biker Sunday 3/30/08- The Missing Photo Located

OOPS!!!! My Bad!!! On 3/30/08 at Biker Sunday at Evangel Temple, one of Bill's pics sent to me got misplaced in the wrong folder...But fear not, this was not to be an OH NO situation....It was located & better late than never, here is Charles with Pastor Kyle's wife, Patty, making the announcement prior to presenting the check to Hospice. One of the MANY highlights at church Sunday morning..If you want to see the picture larger, simply click on the pic..........John

Republican Cowboy

A Republican cowboy from Texas goes to a social function where Hillary Clinton is trying to gather more support for her nomination. Once she discovers the cowboy is a Republican, she starts to belittle him by talking in a southern drawl and single syllable words.

As she was doing that, she kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around her head. The cowboy says, "Y'all havin' some problem with them circle flies?"

She stopped talking and said, "Well yes, if that's what they're called. But I've never heard of circle flies."

"Well ma'am," the cowboy replies, "circle flies hang around ranches. They're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse."

"Oh," Hillary replies as she goes back to rambling. But, a moment later she stops and bluntly asks, "Are you call ing me a horse's ass?"

"No, ma'am," the cowboy replies, "I have too much respect for the citizens of New York to call their Senator a horse's ass."

"That's a good thing," she responds and begins rambling on once more.

After a long pause, the cowboy, in his best Texas drawl says, . . . "Hard to fool them flies though."

3rd Annual Compassion Run Signs 3/28/08 Pt. 1

The 3rd Annual Compassion Run 3/29/08 blog comes in 7 parts (Pt 6 is in 6A & 6B)..If you can't get to all the blogs by scrolling, then go to the left side of the page & click on the page you want to view in the archives area.. Remember, if there is a picture you want to see larger, simply click on the pic...Part 1 deals with the signs around town. I asked Pattie to send me the location list & then I would go take those pics.. Charles also told me the signs should be up at Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church, one of the main sponsor's & starting point for the Compassion Run...So, having this info planted in my head, I ventured out on Friday 3/28/08 to take the pics..Gotta say up front that riding Thursday had been nice with the temperature in the 90's. Friday I set out with a t-shirt on under my leather & those nice ventilated summer gloves...Wrong move on my part as it was 40 degrees out, a difference of 50 degrees from the day before. Made it interesting though...The pic above is the sign on EB US 287 at City View Dr., facing West.

Same sign location, less water tower...

Evangel Temple Marquis out front of the church just off Barnett Rd, between Seymour Hwy & Kell West.. This side faces North..

Evangel Temple Marquis facing South..Just off Barnett between Kell West & Seymour Hwy, in front of the church...

Another mirror pic of the sign on Seymour Hwy just East of Fairway..

The sign as it is meant to be seen on Seymour Hwy, east of Fairway.

The sign on Central Fwy (I-44) facing North, between Maurine Street & Iowa Park Rd.. It is on the East side of the Hwy.

The sign on Callfield, facing West just East of McNeil...

Last view of the sign on Callfield, just East of McNiel.

The sign at US 287 & California facing East.
This will conclude Part 1. I was told that the signs will be up for at least another week...If ya didn't get to see one in person, you still have that week....Enjoy the blog, & pass it on to others that rode or worked as I couldn't get the info to all of them.. And that would be about 98.6 per cent of everyone there...so, until next blog/post....Ride safe..........John

3rd Annual Compassion Run 3/29/08 Pt 2

Part 2 of the 3rd Annual Compassion Run starts with the setup & registration process on Saturday morning. I got there before 0800 hrs to help with the set up & take pictures of the same. I hopped off the bike & went to take some pics of those already there & the disks I bought the night before (my camera uses 3x 5 computer disks for "film") were all showing disk error & would not load...You can imagine I freaked as I took off for Wally World to get another brand...Alas, they didn't have another brand...Do you know how hard it is to find old style floppy disks at 0800 hrs on a Saturday morning? Went to 4 different places before I ended up at Target...They had the good disks, Thank you God!!! Made it back to the church at 0845hrs, the setup complete & registration starting..So I apologize to you brave ones who got there & did the set up. I don't have any pics of that..But I hope to make it up by the pics I was able to get that day..The first pic is of the riders arriving...Remember, if you want to see the picture bigger, click on the pic..Also, since this is a series of six long blogs, you may have to go to the left side of the blog page and in the archive column, click on the blog page ya want to look at and then have fun!!!

Registration starts as more bikers arrive...This is Barbara & Mike heading to the registration table...

Registration got kinda hectic, didn't it Robbie? Robbie is in the pink leathers behind the table...

A view from the South entrance back to the North..

Left To Right: Gary, Flip & company...Niki took off to register...Again, if ya can get me the name of the person that is with ya, I will edit it in...As a matter of fact, if anybody sees someone that I did not name, get hold of me & we will get it fixed....

This is Lamont...Coming back from Target, he was about 2 miles behind me..His bike has the brightest headlights I have ever seen on a ground vehicle. More like landing lights!!!

3rd Annual Compassion Run 3/29/08 Pt. 3

Part 3 of the 3rd Annual Compassion Run starts with the the last shot before line up and departure to Stop 1 at Four Stars Auto Ranch or as I like to call it, Four Stars M/C Ranch in Henrietta. Remember, if you want to see the picture bigger, click on the pic...This is a pic of some of the bikers heading to check out the different booths just prior to the call for line-up..

Russ & Bruce talking bikes just as Line 'Em Up is called...

Bikes are lining up to depart even as some riders are arriving & registering...

More riders heading up to the starting point...

Joe had gotten a ladder from some where & I had given him my camera to take these pics with...He catches me passing the guys on the left as I ride up to him to retrieve my camera...Many thanks Joe....

Started out a nice double nickel down FM 1954....

Sorry folks, this shot should be in Pt. 4...But since I would have to erase everything to edit it in, I'll put it here...This was out on Hwy 148 between Henrietta & Petrolia..A Northbound group passes us by as we stopped to take some pics.

Ahhh...That's better...A nice comfortable 70 mph out on the backroads of North Texas in the company of great riders....

A view over the windshield...I think this is out on FM 1954. Russ is in front of me on the left...

Speaking of Russ, here he is at that nice comfy speed of 70....

The view behind. Either on FM 1954 or Fm 148...

Russ again...We are very good friends. His wife Linda was sick & couldn't make it & my wife Janice worked till 0130 hrs & was still in bed when I left that morning. They both would of loved it had they been feeling better...

A view through the windshield. A few miles from where I took the other one...

The ticket & goodie table at Stop 1, Four Stars M/C Ranch in Henrietta Texas.

Me & Brenda at Stop 1.. She was riding with Leland.. I have known Brenda for years and she is a good friend of my wife..She was disappointed that Janice couldn't make it...

Russ, Leland & me at Stop 1, Four Stars M/C Ranch...

Me & Russ at Stop 1..Russ never stops grinning...I got me another bike & started riding with everyone to any & everywhere and now I can't stop grinning...Got that windshield primarily to keep the bugs, rocks & FOD outta my mouth & off my teeth...

Flip & Niki at Stop 1....There was a line 30 people long inside the dealership, so I started looking for some mesquite trees to water enroute to Stop 2..

Charles & Leland at stop 1....Notice they are grinning also....All you blog surfers take note: get a bike, start grinning..As a CMA member told me, get saved & follow Jesus, then ya can grin with confidence....He was & is so right!!!

Brenda & Russ at Stop 1..We all also used to work together....

The parking lot at Stop 1 is filling up as more bikes arrive.

Robbie & Russ in the parking lot of Stop 1...I haven't seen anyone else in pink leathers other than Robbie..I think she also has some pink/black leather gloves too...

The lot at Stop 1 in Henrietta...Busy place...Lots of bikes coming & going!!

Our groups bikes at Stop 1...

Russ's Harley..He is one of the Blue Knights of Texas Chapter XX and calls his bike the Black Knight....So, here is the Blue Knights' Black Knight...
This will conclude Part 3.........John
