You heard my opinion about day 1. I liked the Solder pick but I hated them trading down. With the 1st pick in the second round they picked Ras-I Dowling who could be a good corner, but his health is a major issue. Passing on Brooks Reed or Da'quan Bowers could be a big mistake. Also, the Patriots drafted two runningbacks in Shane Vereen out of Cal and Stevan Ridley a RB out of LSU. Both of these guys are luxury picks, Vareen can catch the ball out of the backfield while Stevan Ridley is a bruiser up the middle. None of these guys have ever been a 20 carry a game type of guy. The crazy thing to me is instead of wasting 2 picks on guys who can add up to be Mark Ingram, why wouldn't you just draft Mark Ingram? Then there is the Ryan Mallett pick, who I like but yet again it's a luxury pick. He could be trade bait in the future, but why would you waste another pick on luxury? Mallett will never be starting if Brady doesn't get injured and fulfills his contract.
The Patriots again played for the future instead of getting pass rusher and will regret it. Patriot fans will bring up Jerod Mayo and Devon McCourty, but those are really the only 2 players that Belichick hit on. The Pats are going to regret a lot when looking back on this draft.
